LOCAL FILES

Read local Markdown files offline.

Aero Markdown opens Markdown where it already lives on your Mac. There is no account to create, no hosted library to import into, and no document upload to read the page.

START WITH THE FOLDER YOU HAVE

A file tree.
Your existing structure.

Open one document, open a folder, or add another folder to the same sidebar. The source files remain at their original paths. Recent items help you return to a document without creating another library.

A README and its supporting notes can stay together, linked with ordinary relative Markdown paths.

Open and manage folders

Illustration of local documents, not an additional storage service.

THE RENDERER IS ALREADY HERE

Read offline.
Keep the detail.

Nothing in the document is uploaded to a service by Aero Markdown. Syntax highlighting, Mermaid, and KaTeX are included in the app for local rendering.

Local documents

Read Markdown from disk. The file does not need a hosted copy before you can see a formatted page.

Bundled rendering

Read code, Mermaid diagrams, and math without downloading those renderers when the document opens.

No account or cloud library

The reading workflow does not ask you to sign in or move documentation into an Aero Markdown cloud workspace.

CLEAR ACTIONS AROUND THE SOURCE

Open to read.
Save when you edit.

Opening and rendering do not rewrite a file. If you edit the open document and choose Save, that writes it.

When another tool changes the open file, automatic reload follows it at the current heading if you have no unsaved edits. If you have edits, they are kept and the app reports the disk change.

Understand reload and agent hooks

The open file is watched.

Watching one document does not watch the entire folder or make a new Markdown file open itself. Optional local hooks for Claude Code, Cursor, and Windsurf are a separate setup. Codex is not in those hooks.

No AI chat or model calls run inside Aero Markdown.

PRODUCT BEHAVIOR, IN PLAIN LANGUAGE

The files are yours.
The page stays local.

Aero Markdown has no background analytics or tracking. Reading does not send document content to a service.

App update checks are not active in the current build. Reading and rendering local Markdown work offline.
